The cycling teams of Drexel University, University of Pennsylvania,
Johns Hopkins University, Temple University, and Villanova University
are once again pleased to be putting on a full weekend of events:
- Saturday, March 10: The Arkema Schuylkill Challenge Circuit Race. A
fast, fun 6 mile course through the parks along Philadelphia's famous
Schuylkill River and across from Boathouse Row, with just enough
climbing and twists to spice things up. As with all the Phlyer's
races, the entire course is closed to traffic and held on wide, very
well-maintained roads with several excellent spectating points.
- Sunday, March 11: The Trophy Bikes Team Time Trial. Using a
long-established TTT course but adding just a few elements of its own,
this is a near-ideal race for well-coordinated, powerful teams as they
race against the clock on an almost totally flat, straight course.
- Sunday, March 11: The Philly Phlyer Criterium. Now held on the
vintage and well-loved Memorial Hall crit course, the wide roads and
zero elevation change make this an awesome battleground for strong
riders and fearless sprinters to strut their stuff!
The Phlyer is also pleased to announce the continued participation of
Arkema Inc. and Trophy Bikes, once again returning as title sponsors.
An unlikely combination of world-wide industrial chemicals firm and
classic Philadelphia bike shop, their support enables a full slate of
great racing. In addition to a full collegiate schedule, this year's
Phlyer includes USCF categories in our fantastic and unique circuit
race, the longest amateur cycling course held inside Philadelphia:
- Collegiate Circuit, Team Time Trial, and Criterium Races, with three
women's and five men's categories on tap, including men's and
women's Intro to Racing fields in a coached format ideal for newracers! Small prizes courtesy Accelerade and Trophy Bikes.
- USCF Circuit Races, including a combined Men's 4/5 & Women's 3/4
race as well as a combined Men's 3/4 & Women's 1/2/3 field. Prizes
courtesy Keswick Cycles in Glenside and Cherry Hill.
- USCF Open & Alumni Team Time Trial---come on out and show how well
your club works as a team or just show off your old school jersies!
Prizes courtesy Trophy Bikes in downtown Philadelphia.
Logistics support for the USCF and other categories is graciously
provided by Team Independence/Keswick Cycles, a young Philadelphia
club oriented toward collegiate, junior, and beginning racers.
With all this racing and both the ACCC and ECCC in attendance, this
year's Phlyer is set to break records and be one of this year's most
exciting cycling weekends. Attendance is expected to shatter previous
standards, with well over 500 racers expected and perhaps more! Make
sure to register today and be part of the action come March!
All events held under USAC and NCCA rules and permits. Updates and
more information are available on the Philly Phlyer website:

The Eastern Collegiate Cycling Conference (ECCC) includes colleges in
Delaware, New England, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. The
Atlantic Collegiate Cycling Conference (ACCC) includes colleges in
Maryland, West Virginia, Virginia, and North Carolina. As they compete
from early March through April, teams vie for the top of season-long
team point standings as well as Collegiate Road National Championships
qualification spots. The inexpensive racing features team-oriented
bicycle racing for all abilities with team pride, glory, and honor as
the only prize list. More information and links can be found on the
National Collegiate Cycling Association and ECCC websites at
